Amy Sherman joined Economic Literacy Colorado in 2023 and brings over 30 years of experience in public service and decades of building partnerships with leaders and influencers to champion important work for the community. As the daughter of one of the first female FirstBank officers, Amy was taught financial literacy throughout her upbringing and is passionate to expand economic education and financial literacy to Colorado teachers and students. Most recently, Amy was the President & CEO of the Northwest Douglas County Chamber & EDC. Amy has more than 25 years of experience in the chamber of commerce, trade association and economic development industries. Her strong organizational management skills help her shine in being a catalyst for business growth, a convener of leaders and influencers, and a champion for the community.
Amy was one of Denver Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 winners in 2012, Economic Development Rookie of the Year in 2013, and Denver Business Journal’s Top Women in Energy in 2015. Additionally, Amy was awarded the Colorado Chamber President of the Year 2008, and top women of Jefferson County in 2011.

Amanda joined Economic Literacy Colorado in March 2006 having previously worked in marketing for architecture and landscape architecture firms. She is responsible for developing and stewarding relationships with individual, foundation, and corporate donors, through planning and management of the organization’s events as well as corporate and foundation grant writing. Amanda works closely with ELC’s President & CEO to strengthen longstanding relationships and build new business partnerships in the community. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities from the University of Kansas in 1998.

Jay joined Economic Literacy Colorado in May 2018. He is responsible for EconLitCo’s economics and PFL professional development programs for Colorado K-12 teachers. He also works with university faculty, K-12 teachers, school district leaders, and state organizations to develop classes and standards training for teachers throughout Colorado. Before taking this position, Jay worked for almost 25 years as a social studies and math middle school teacher in the Denver area (primarily in Littleton). Jay was the 2011 recipient of the Colorado State History Teacher of the Year Award, and has attended and presented at a variety of national teacher conferences (NCSS, NCHE, NCTM, CCSS, etc..) over his career. He is married to Kiki (a high school math teacher) and enjoys sports, travel (especially to history/culture sites), and reading anything he can get his hands on!
Cheryl Haggard

Cheryl joined Economic Literacy Colorado as Administrative Associate in August 2019. Shortly thereafter she became Office Manager, taking responsibility for teacher registrations, database, website, social media, marketing, online delivery of classes, and much more. Her background includes management, accounting and teaching high school math. She also served in the U.S. Army where she repaired components of missile launching systems, and was promoted to Sergeant after graduating with honors from the leadership training. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from California State University, Sacramento with a minor in music. She currently plays keyboard with the worship band at Rocky Mountain Christian Church and enjoys spending time with family and friends.

Molly McVeigh joined Economic Literacy Colorado as the Student Programs Director in March 2022. She is responsible for managing the Stock Market Experience and ELC’s newest program, Invest In Girls, and will build a portfolio of engaging personal finance and economic programs for K-12 students. Molly was formerly an elementary and middle school classroom teacher in the Denver metro area, most recently as a middle school social studies teacher at Littleton Academy. She earned the Outstanding Teacher Award two years in a row from Douglas County Schools. Molly volunteers for DECA, the Cherry Creek Schools Foundation, and Denver Santa Claus Shop. She is a Denver native and earned her Bachelor of Arts in American History and Political Science from Colorado College and her Master of Arts in Education from the University of Colorado Denver. Molly loves to ski, travel, golf, and spend time with family and friends.

Anna has a broad range of experience in political campaigns, nonprofits, and governmental agencies, with a strong background in program management, training, service delivery, case management, strategic planning, and logistical organization. Both her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Lewis and Clark College and University of Colorado Denver and Master of Social Work from University of Denver degrees combine to provide a deep understanding of both big picture change and the unique needs of individuals.
Anna has spent most of her career working on issues related to family support services, child abuse prevention, victim services, supportive housing, and education reform, all with the lens of ensuring families have the support and skills they need to be successful and children are safe, healthy, and happy.
