Dollars and Democracy: the Economics Behind U.S. Elections, October 26 | Denver (in-person only) | Accredited
Join us for an enriching teacher training presented by our partners at the Foundation for Economic Education (FEE). After almost two years of primaries and caucuses, campaigning, debating, developing platforms and “talking points” on the economy, we should be to the easy part. Once the nation makes a final decision, the new president will simply have to implement all those plans and fulfill all those promises . . . right?
In this class we will look at a variety of lessons ranging from the national debt and fiscal deficit crisis, to campaign financing, and the incentives at work in the political system. We’ll also look at the challenges of dealing with a Congress potentially controlled by different parties, as well as the likely impact of changes at the Federal Reserve. This is NOT a course about promoting ideology, taking sides, or picking winners and losers – just following the economics to evaluate two very different sets of fiscal priorities and their implications for the next 4 years.
