How much do you remember of your college experience? Life in the dorms (or maybe your own place?); classes and exams; parties with your friends; living on your own and making major decisions for the first time; relationships that hopefully lasted . . .

Now, how much do you remember of your college ECONOMICS course? The one you took as an undergraduate that “prepared” you to teach that content to high schoolers?

Our week-long “Economics for Educators” class is intended to serve as an update for your micro- and macro-economic knowledge – a look at the basics through the lens of modern examples from current events. Inflation – how and why does it happen, and what are the government (and Fed’s) options to deal with it? Gas Prices (or any other resource) – does a free market or government solution work more efficiently to lower costs? Average vs Marginal Tax Rates – what are the differences, and why do we use them to reduce (or increase) inequity? These topics (and many others) will be part of a week-long intensive look at the impact that economic choices make on our lives – and on the futures of your students. This class is not about class activities, but a LOT of standards connections (focusing on the new proposed revisions) to help you know what to focus on!

Learn how economics impacts and gives insights into current events. Two professors will team-teach this 3-credit class to focus on micro and macro concepts like the workings of the market, government economic policies, and global trade. This is 1 of 2 required classes for both of EconLitCo’s ECON and PFL Certificates. Offered every other year: next class is 2026
