Taylor Swift-enomics, April 13 | Hybrid (Denver/Online) | Accredited

Explore how the pop-star sensation is changing the world of music, business, and people’s decisions by viewing Taylor Swift through the lens of economics. This class will span topics from micro to macro to provide teaching tools and examples with wide ranging applicability and, hopefully, of high interest to your students. Explore questions of market structure and market power to analyze how T-Swift took on Ticketmaster . . . and won! Did her Eras tour literally prevent the post-pandemic recession?  Can her actions influence fans to change decisions like register to vote or watch the NFL?  This class will help integrate current events, news, and economic models to better understand the true impacts Taylor Swift and her fan base have on the world around us.
